USFS Chief Moore: 2023 wildfire letter and prescribed fire strategy

U.S. Forest Service Chief Randy Moore released his annual leadership message for wildfire response. The letter of intent reiterates the U.S. Forest Service’s commitment to safety and improving the work environment. It also directs employees to actively engage with stakeholders, partner organizations and communities in preparedness planning and post-fire management strategies.

Of note, the letter announces the agency’s National Prescribed Fire Resource Mobilization Strategy to align prescribed fire implementation, support and agency-wide coordination, and prioritize prescribed fire on landscapes identified under the Wildfire Crisis Strategy.
