SGSF Welcomes New Disaster Response Protocol Coordinator

Welcome Jennifer Moore Myers to the SGSF Team!
We are excited to welcome Jennifer Moore Myers to the Southern Group of State Foresters as our new Disaster Response Protocol Coordinator.
This is a significant addition to the SGSF team, and one that strengthens our collective capacity to support coordinated, effective disaster response across the Southern region.
In her role, Jenni will lead efforts to develop, update, and support the implementation of SGSF’s disaster rapid assessment protocols. She will coordinate subject matter experts to clearly define response steps, timelines and key personnel, help ensure protocols remain current as technologies and personnel change and support protocol implementation before, during and after disaster events. Jenni will also lead after-action reviews to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
Jenni brings a strong background in facilitation, project coordination and forestry science. Most recently, she served as Communications Team Leader with the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station, where she worked closely with scientists, leadership and partners to manage structured communication efforts related to research, leadership priorities and public-facing information. Her experience supporting collaboration across disciplines and organizations directly informs her work in this coordination-focused role.
She has also worked as a science writer, editor and geospatial analyst. Jenni holds a Master of Science in Forestry from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geography from Ohio University.
Jenni lives in Raleigh with her husband, daughter and dog. We are very pleased to welcome her to the SGSF team and look forward to the expertise and leadership she brings to this important work.
