Florida Launches USDA Disaster Block Grant Program

UPDATE: Beginning February 25, 2026, eligible agricultural producers can apply for grants through the Florida Block Grant Disaster Relief Program.

Florida was the first state in the nation to finalize an agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to implement recently authorized disaster block grant funding for agricultural producers.

The Block Grant Disaster Relief Program will provide more than $600 million in funding to support Florida’s hurricane-impacted producers. This funding represents approximately 35% of Florida’s total agricultural losses and damage from the 2023 and 2024 hurricane seasons (Hurricanes Idalia, Debby, Helene and Milton).

The program will be open to agricultural producers located in counties designated as primary or contiguous disaster areas who are U.S. citizens or legal entities with ownership or risk in affected commodities.

Producers are encouraged to begin preparing now by reviewing eligibility information and gathering required documentation to help prevent delays once the application period opens. We recommend having all documentation needed to submit with the application ready to be uploaded in a legible, electronic format to help expedite the process.

Once launched, the application for producers will be accessible on this webpage. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis once the application period opens. Producers are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible. All applications must be submitted by August 25, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.
