New Leadership Takes the Helm at SGSF

The Southern Group of State Foresters has announced its Executive Committee leadership for the 2026–27 term, with Al Davis, Director of the Texas A&M Forest Service, stepping into the role of Chair.

As Chair, Davis will guide the work of the SGSF Executive Committee and Board of Directors, helping set the direction and priorities of the organization while also serving as the Southern Area Representative to the National Association of State Foresters.

Joining Davis on the Executive Committee are Florida State Forester Rick Dolan, who will serve as Vice Chair, and Arkansas State Forester Kyle Cunningham, who will serve as Treasurer. Kentucky State Forester Brandon Howard moves into the role of Past Chair following his term leading the organization. In that capacity, he will remain on the Executive Committee, providing continuity and institutional perspective as SGSF transitions to its new leadership.

Together, they will provide leadership and strategic direction for SGSF throughout the 2026–27 term.
