This workshop will provide hands-on training to support the use of the Southern Wildfire Risk Assessment Portal (SouthWRAP), with a special focus on introducing new risk assessment results and exploring applications. Additionally, this workshop is intended to provide attendees with sufficient knowledge and skills to both train other state and federal field employees and other interested partners such as Firewise community leaders and fire department personnel in the use of these tools. Sponsored by the Southern Group of State Foresters and Texas A&M Forest Service, and hosted by the USFS Southern Research Station.
Who Should Attend?
SouthWRAP Users and anyone interested in learning more about the updated Southern Wildfire Risk Assessment data.
The target audience is any state, local, federal, not for profit or community leaders involved in wildland fire hazard assessments, development of CWPPs, FEMA wildland fire hazard assessments, Firewise, Fire adapted community learning networks, wildland fire grant applications, fire prevention, or other planning efforts as it relates to wildland fire and fuels.

Training Schedule
- Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30/5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 2:00/3:00 p.m. (We’ll finish early to accommodate travel home.)

The training will include sessions on:

- Comparing and cross walking new data to those previously in SouthWRAP

- Q&A on Data, Methods, etc.

- Accessing and managing the tools

- Southern Wildfire Risk Explorer (Basic and Advanced Viewers)

- Exploring Risk Summary Reports and Data Exports

- Community Assessor (field-based tool)

- New tools and map products currently in development

Participant Information & Logistics

- Participants should bring their laptops to engage in interactive training.

- Participants will work with the applicable WRAP tools on a project or community area from their own jurisdiction, online and in real time.

- Participants will be set up with the needed tool access prior to the training.

- Instructors will come from Timmons Group and Texas A&M Forest Service.
