Outreach: Public Health & Smoke Management

Help us gather outreach materials on public health related to smoke management

We are compiling existing communication materials, such as templates, handouts, graphics, videos and other resources, into one shared library.

This also includes resources such as prescribed burn notifications that include language about public health impacts of smoke, or how to protect yourself from smoke impacts.

Why now?

Improving regional education and outreach materials on the public health impacts of prescribed fire and wildfire smoke.

In November 2024, wildfire managers, prescribed fire practitioners, researchers, air quality professionals, and public health officials gathered at the SERPPAS Southern Regional Wildland Fire Smoke Workshop, held in Raleigh, NC, to discuss the public health impacts of smoke from prescribed fire and wildfires in the Southern region.

As a result of that workshop, the Southeast Smoke Management Outreach for Public Health Working Group was formed to explore opportunities for improving regional education and outreach materials on the public health impacts of prescribed fire and wildfire smoke.

The form below is designed to collect those materials.

If your organization has created or used educational or outreach tools related to the public health impacts of smoke from prescribed fires or wildfires, we invite you to share them here.

By pooling resources, we aim to make it easier for prescribed fire practitioners, wildfire managers, and health professionals across the South to deliver consistent, effective messaging and mitigation tools to better protect the public.
