The USDA Forest Service Wood Innovations Program has posted a “Notice of Funding Opportunity” application for the FY23 Temporary Bridge Funding Opportunity. The intent of the program is to support the establishment of temporary bridge rental/loan/cost-share programs with states and federally-recognized Indian tribes to protect water resources and reduce water quality degradation during forestry-related operations. This program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. A rolling application period will be used. The program is open and available for response with applications due on August 31, 2023 and December 31, 2023.  Funding decisions will be made within 30 days of the due dates.

The funding opportunity is open to both States and Tribes. Applicants who have previously been awarded a grant may reapply. The application period for the Temporary Bridge Funding Opportunity is now open 3 times per year.

  • Applicants may request up to $300,000 in any calendar year.
  • Federal interest on all state sub awards as part of a cost-share has been waived for bridges $35,000 and less.
  • Federal interest is waived on all bridges regardless of cost for all tribes.
  • Awards will be announced approximately two months after submission.
