Southern Group of State Foresters launches new website covering issues and key topics important to the southern forestry community

Oklahoma City, OK — The Southern Group of State Foresters (SGSF) today launched a new website to provide the southern perspective on national issues, policy development and legislation impacting the forestry community and profession. The website, created by a team of forestry experts and digital media professionals, aims to provide a comprehensive online resource for forestry personnel, policymakers, landowners and communities.

The website, found at SouthernForests.org, features up-to-date news and analysis on key legislation, including the recent investments in state and private forests through the Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The site also covers trending issues like new and emerging forest markets, climate solutions and wildland fire management. Moreover, visitors may browse a variety of topics, ranging from forest management and forest health – to forest products, environmental services, and urban and community forestry.

“We’re thrilled to launch this website as a go-to resource for anyone interested in matters impacting southern forests and forestry,” said Chelsea Ealum, SGSF Communications Director. “It’s essential to have a platform for sharing the latest developments and insights from leading forestry experts in the South, and we believe this website will help SGSF do just that.”

In addition to news and analysis, the website includes a variety of features, including a blog, a resource library and a directory of member state foresters and their agencies. Visitors can also sign up for email updates to stay informed about the southern perspective on current forestry issues.

“We’re committed to making SouthernForests.org a valuable resource for our members. This website will enhance communication with key decision makers, partners, landowners and the public,” said Mark Goeller, SGSF Chair and Oklahoma State Forester. “We hope that it will spark meaningful collaboration and enhance partnerships that effectively conserve, protect and enhance southern forests.”
